Here’s what you should know about paying for a CTY course.
Effective December 2025:
Before your enrollment can be processed for any CTY course, you must:
- Pay all registration fees, and
- Submit either:
- The first installment of an approved payment plan, or
- The full tuition payment
- For in-person programs, a program deposit may also be required.
If you have an outstanding balance from a previous CTY course, payments will be applied to that balance first. Your enrollment cannot be processed until your account is current. Balances can be viewed and paid in MyCTY.
Payment plans
Families can pay for CTY courses in installments, allowing them to spread out tuition costs while securing their spot early in a course.
The first payment is due at the time of registration, along with a $50 installment plan fee. Remaining payments are scheduled monthly, following the registration date, for the number of months selected in the payment plan.
Payment plan options depend on the relationship between purchase date and term start date:
- Families who enroll more than three months before their term start date will have the option to pay over four installments.
- Families who enroll between three months and five weeks before the term start date will have the option to pay over two installments.
- Families who enroll less than five weeks before their term start date must pay the full tuition balance at the time of enrollment.
Accepted Payment Methods
- Direct bank payment: Use your bank account and routing number to pay securely online via MyCTY.
- Credit card: We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
- Tuition remission: Full-time JHU employees can apply their 50% tuition remission benefit toward any course for which their child is eligible. Tuition remission for JHU employees is calculated after any other discounts are applied. How to apply your tuition remission benefit.

Late fees and penalties
- Late application fee: $25 per application
- Late payment fee: $25 per invoice
- Returned check fee: $25 per check
Refund policy
Families who wish to withdraw from a CTY course should log in to MyCTY, select Academic History, select View Academic History, and then select Request Drop for the applicable course. Refunds are based on the date of the withdrawal request:

Additional notes:
- If CTY cancels a course, 100% of tuition will be refunded.
- Registration fees are non-refundable under any circumstance.
- Refunds are issued via the original payment method.
- Electronic refunds: 5-7 business days
- Paper check refunds: 2-3 weeks
- Withdrawals due to violations of CTY’s code of conduct are not eligible for a refund.
