CTY day and residential courses meet the better part of the day (5-7 hours) every weekday over three weeks, while online versions of the same courses have one 90-minute meeting each week for the duration of the course. As a result, students will necessarily cover significantly less content to reflect the decreased class time commitment. CTY is offering popular day and residential courses in an online format to open new ways for students to engage in CTY’s distinctive academic experience, which features rigorous coursework, a novel context or approach, and a fun and engaging peer community. The online version of an in-person course can stand alone, serve as a preview for students who want to try a topic before committing to an in-person course, or they may serve as extensions for students who took a day or residential course in the same topic and want more. Because online courses are offered throughout the year, they also allow students with broad interests greater opportunity to sample and explore.
