The following are sample daily schedules for students at our day and residential sites. See job descriptions for sample schedules of specific roles at CTY summer sites.
Residential Sites for Grades 7+
9 a.m.-12 p.m. Class, including a 15-minute break
12-1 p.m. Lunch
1-3 p.m. Class/lab. Includes a 10-minute break. Some science classes meet until
3:30 p.m. in order to complete lab work
3:15-5:30 p.m. Activities. RAs conduct activities for students; instructional staff use this time for planning
5:30-6:30 p.m. Dinner
7-9 p.m. Evening class session. TAs generally supervise these sessions. Instructors attend a minimum of 4 hours/week
9:15-10:30 p.m. Social time, hall meeting, and lights out. Students are in their residence halls for meetings; instructional staff use this time for planning and weekly meetings
Residential Sites for Grades 5-6
9-11:30 a.m. Class, including a 15-minute break
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Lunch 12:30-2:30 p.m. Class/lab
2:30-2:45 p.m. Afternoon break
2:45-4:15 p.m. Late-afternoon class session. Instructors and Teaching Assistants are required to attend all sessions
4:30-6:30 p.m. Hall time and dinner (Instructional staff use this time for planning and weekly meetings)
6:30-8:30 p.m. Activities period. RAs conduct activities for students. Instructional staff use this time for planning)
8:45-9:30 p.m. Hall time, evening activities, and lights out. Students are in their residence halls for meetings; instructional staff may use this for additional planning time
Day Sites for Grades 2-8
7:30 a.m. CTY office opens, before-program care begins
8 a.m. All staff arrive
9-11:30 a.m. Class
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Lunch
12:30-2:30 p.m. Class
2:30-4 p.m. Activities. Program Assistants conduct activities for students; instructors use this time for planning
4 p.m. Students dismiss and after-program care begins
4:30 p.m. Staff not proctoring after-program care depart
5:30 p.m. After-program care students dismiss
5:45 p.m. After-program care staff depart
