The test is administered online using a remote proctoring platform.

  • Your child will need a laptop, desktop, or Chromebook that has a webcam, speakers, and microphone and meets other technical requirements. Students cannot take this test on a cell phone or tablet. When you begin the test, a system check will be conducted to ensure your system meets the requirements. Google Chrome is the preferred browser, but Microsoft Edge may also be used. Other browsers are not supported.
  • Taking the test requires a stable internet connection with access speeds of at least 10 Mbps upload and download. You may check your internet speed at https://speedtest.jh.edu/.
  • Once you have completed the proctoring set-up process, the test will launch in a second browser tab. Both tabs must remain open until the test is completed.
  • Please remind your child of the requirements they should follow during the test. Failure to adhere to these requirements could result in an invalid test:
  • Only one monitor should be used during testing and all other software should be closed.
  • The proctoring platform will launch the test in a second browser tab. Both the proctoring tab and test tab must remain open until the test is completed.
  • Students may not browse the internet or open other tabs during testing.
  • The test window should be the only open window and they should not browse the internet during testing.
  • Your child’s entire face should always remain visible and they should not get up during the testing session.
  • Please encourage your child to take a bathroom break before the test session starts.
  • In case of an urgent or unexpected need for the bathroom, please ask your child to do this at the break between sections.
  • Phones or listening devices (including headphones of any sort) should not be present or used.
  • Please do not have any distractions in the location where your child is testing (for example, no TV paying, no music from another listening device, no conversations, no people congregating near the student, and other such distractions)
  • Your child may have two sheets of paper and a writing utensil to use during the test.
  • The test consists of five sections: Practice Verbal (5 minutes), Verbal (20 minutes), Break (10 minutes), Practice Quantitative (5 minutes), and Quantitative (20 minutes). The test must be completed in a single sitting.
