If plans change and your child plans to seek school credit for a CTY online course, you must notify CTY before your course enrollment begins in order to update your status. Students who have indicated that they are not taking a course for school credit cannot change their status to that of taking a course for school credit once the course begins. Students requesting credit from their school should always discuss their options with school officials and obtain approval before enrolling, as schools have varying policies. Although CTY is an accredited institution, credit can only be awarded by the student’s school.

Students may switch from taking a course for school credit to non-school credit at any time during the course, but once the change is made, students may not switch back. Students who are not seeking school credit will still receive a letter grade (if enrolled in a graded course), course completion document, and certificate upon successful completion of the course.

If you do not want your child’s online course to appear on their Official Academic Record and it is not important to receive a course completion document and certificate, please review CTY’s audit policy and discuss the possibility of auditing with your child’s instructor. Students who audit a course will not receive a final letter grade (if enrolled in a graded course), course completion document, or certificate.
