CTY is committed to a rigorous approach to assessment so we can provide academically advanced students with the appropriate level of challenge in our programs. We already allow students who score within a few points of the minimum cut-off scores to participate in our programs; that exception is built into our eligibility policy, and families of near-qualified students are notified of this eligibility along with their test scores. Therefore we do not grant any further exceptions, as we do not wish to set up a student for failure in a CTY course and we are committed to having a fair and consistent process for all students to follow to establish eligibility.

We do allow students to retest once per academic year. Visit MyCTY to learn more about scheduling a retest.

We also accept students’ scores from a variety of tests that students may have already taken at school or for other academic purposes. Learn more
