Our traditional independently paced and session-based online courses, except for some World Languages courses, are mostly asynchronous, meaning students can work at their own pace and do not experience course instruction together. Students often take these courses as replacements for school courses or to get ahead. LIVE courses, in contrast, blend live online instruction, peer-to-peer collaboration, and independent learning. They are instructor developed and largely enrichment-based so students can pursue a topic they might not normally experience in school. Unlike most of CTY’s other online courses, we do not recommend students pursue credit or placement for LIVE courses.
