If you have indicated that your child is planning to take a course for school credit now or in the future, your child will receive a letter grade if they successfully complete the course, regardless of whether the course is typically graded or ungraded. Your child will also receive a course completion document and certificate. We want to ensure that students interested in obtaining school credit receive all the necessary information from CTY to seek credit or placement from their school.

If you have indicated that you are not planning to seek school credit, this simply indicates to CTY that your child may be taking the course for enrichment, exploration, or review purposes. After your child successfully completes a graded course, they will receive a letter grade as well as a course completion document and certificate. If your child successfully completes an ungraded course, they will not receive a letter grade but will receive a course completion document and certificate.

English language arts courses below the AP®-level, engineering, and visual fluency courses are typically ungraded and students receive a detailed evaluation in their course completion document at the end of the course. All other online courses are graded, and the final letter grade is listed along with a detailed evaluation in the course completion document provided at the end of the course.

Students who participate in CTY programs may request a CTY Official Academic Record that shows all the academic courses a student has taken, with grades if applicable. A successfully completed online course will appear on your child’s CTY Official Academic Record regardless of plans to seek school credit or placement. If you do not want an online course to appear on your Official Academic Record and it is not important to you to receive a course completion document and certificate, please review CTY’s audit policy and discuss the possibility of auditing with your child’s instructor.
