Placement testing may be required to fulfill prerequisites for select courses; see individual course descriptions for more details. Each placement test may only be taken once. Only students with a qualifying score in the relevant area should be registered for placement testing.
To register a student for an online placement test, a parent or guardian must fill out the request form and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
Once CTY receives the request, the parent or guardian will receive an email with instructions for accessing the placement testing service. Students will have access to all placement tests but should only complete the placement test necessary to enroll in their requested course. If unsure which placement test to take, contact ctyonline@jhu.edu for assistance.
Students should plan to complete a placement test at least 5 business days before an application deadline to ensure any course prerequisites are fulfilled in time to register.
