In close coordination with Johns Hopkins University leadership and with much deliberation, we have reached the difficult decision not to hold Summer Programs in 2021, but rather to plan to open them again in 2022.
We came to this conclusion due to logistical and important health and safety considerations, all of which are complicated because CTY holds programs at multiple sites, each with their own local conditions and safety arrangements. Many families we surveyed said they would be willing to send their child to an in-person summer program if a full suite of health precautions were in place. Yet even with the most carefully implemented health precautions—many of which would dramatically alter our typical in-person experience—we know the virus is unpredictable. We also know from survey data that families will likely and understandably wait until spring or later to finalize their summer plans, and that timeline is challenging for CTY and would inhibit our ability to provide new learning opportunities.
Enrollment is now open for CTY’s hundreds of challenging, engaging, and fun online summer courses for students in grades 2-12. Choose from real-time, independent, and student-driven collaborative formats tailored to your child’s needs and taught by expert instructors skilled at teaching advanced concepts to bright young students.
Students taking CTY virtual summer courses can also sign up to participate in fun, free online social activities with their CTY classmates as part of their summer course.
