Our traditional independently paced and session-based online courses, with the exception of some World Languages courses, are mostly asynchronous, meaning students do not experience course instruction at the same time and can work at their own pace. Students often take these courses as replacements for school courses or to get ahead. L.I.V.E. courses, in contrast, offer a blend of live online instruction, peer-to-peer collaboration, and independent learning. The courses are instructor developed and largely enrichment based so that students can pursue a topic they might not normally experience in school. Unlike most of CTY’s other online offerings, we do not recommend you pursue credit or placement for L.I.V.E. courses.
